The material quality of glass and its reaction to light intrigues glass artist Jessamy Kelly. Using the handcrafted sensitivity of craft practice she harnesses light by cutting away the glass to reveal its inherent luminosity and translucent qualities. Minimal amounts of cutting and engraving shape her sculptural work creating a soft, sensitive aesthetic, which works subtly with the simplicity of her cast glass forms.

Jessamy Kelly has recently completed her PhD in Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland and is currently Artist in Residence at Edinburgh College of Art.

Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the UK as well as Internationally in France, The Czech Republic, and The Netherlands and in The United States.

She has won many awards including the Craft and Design magazine Selected Gold Award: Glass Award 2009 and the Craft and Design magazine Selected Gold Award: Maker of the Year 2009.
